The E-Stitches Collective has been a non-profit voluntary platform since being founded by Camille Baker in 2014 (co-founded by Melissa Coleman) and co-organised by people from the UK and groups across Europe. It is now run by Sara Robertson, Emma Wright and Lucie Hernandez who are revitalising the collective and working to grow the community. We’re all about blending materials, craft techniques, and tech to create innovative solutions that benefit people, society, and the environment. It’s a vibrant community of makers, hackers, designers, bio-technologists, performers, and researchers pushing the boundaries of e-textiles, soft systems, and wearable tech.
The E-Stitches Collective gathers to share artistic /research/ practice, running demonstrations, workshops & talks on the themes of :
* soft circuits and e-textiles,
* digital fashion,
* wearables and DIY electronics
The first issue of The E-Stitches Collective Zine features 29 inspiring e-textile projects created by members of the e-stitches community. Showcasing works from past to present, it highlights an array of e-textile practices: artistic, performative, speculative, design-oriented, and participatory projects. These projects span across spatial, wearable, and workshop formats, weaving together creative practices that invite interaction, spark conversation, produce sound, illuminate surfaces, and envision bio-based electronic futures.
The zine was showcased at the 6th International E-Textiles Conference on the Challenges, Opportunities, Innovations and Applications in Electronic Textiles: E-Textiles 2024, chaired by Fraunhofer IZM, Berlin and organized by Sigrid Rotzler and Malte von Krshiwoblozki.
