E-Textile Workshops

Workshops take place online via Zoom for a dedicated session from 2 – 4 hours depending on your requirements. All workshops offer a structured time and space to focus on embedding electronic components into your textile projects and help support your creative expression. They are particularly relevant for people involved in all aspects of fashion and textile practice as well as students thinking of experimenting with e-textiles for the first time.

These relaxed sessions give you the opportunity to explore e-textiles for the first time, or for a refresher for combining electronic components into textiles if you’ve tried it before. Sessions allow time for trialling stitching with conductive thread, adding LED lights and a battery/battery pack to illuminate them. A demonstration is given at the beginning of the session and tuition and support is on hand throughout. Activities cover the following:

  • Brief introduction to E-Textiles
  • Simple circuits, supplies & equipment
  • Working with LED lights
  • Guided sewing with conductive thread
  • Testing, prototyping and fault finding
  • Useful references and sources of further information

£25 per session includes tuition and materials, that are sent to your home address beforehand. Please email lucie to register your interest
