What is Repair generations?
Repair Generations is a collective of designers, makers and menders that run workshops to connect people in the community to repair our clothes.
We demonstrate a range of creative techniques to repair and mend our clothes to extend their life and keep them out of landfill. Learning and sharing skills is at the heart of the project and is an opportunity for local communities and individuals to take part, connect and participate in something worthwhile. Come and join our community and be part of the repair movement to support more sustainable fashion.
We are currently running a crowdfunding campaign that is LIVE until Oct 1st. Please help us by pledging, donating or sharing here: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/repair-generations

Background to the project
The fashion and textile industries are responsible for increasing environmental damage and waste. Clothing is responsible for large carbon emissions at all stages of the production, distribution and consumption process. Societies need to find more sustainable relationships to the clothes we wear and drastically reduce the amount we buy.
The waste charity WRAP raise awareness of the value of clothes and encourage people to make the most of the clothes they already have. They found that one of the most significant things you can do is increase the active life of our clothes. So each time we keep an item of clothing in use for longer it helps save many tonnes of clothing from going into landfill. Thats where repair comes in.
